Every meal I have had there has been delicious. My favorite is their stuffed shrimp, but they really should remove the shell on the tail. It's too messy to remove it at the table. The servers are always very friendly and to out of their way to help.

Went with another couple on a beautiful summer evening - ate outside on the porch! Our seafood dinners were superb and service was very attentive! Worth the 45" drive!

Heard about this place on a PBS tv show. It was mentioned as having great crab dishes. No lie! We had the Crab Soup and it was one of best I've ever had with LOTS of crab. The Crab Cakes were truly lump crab and delicious maybe they needed just a bit more seasoning(salt) but very good. Also had the Seafood platter with fried oysters and yum! Their boiler isn't working so no crab legs or soft shell crabs. But I'll be checking in to see when they're back on the menu. It's quite a drive from most places(I'm near Pittsburgh) but we'll worth it!

Ate dinner at the Hen House thanks to a recommendation from a friend who went to college nearby. The food was good, the waitress was great, and the owner was on the premises making sure the evening flowed as smoothly as possible. What more can a customer ask for? We had cream of crab soup and crabby fries as our appetizers, along with the fresh bread for the table. The salads were perfectly portioned. Our entrees were fried shrimp and the seafood platter. My husband and I were STUFFED and both left with to-go boxes. We will definitely come back.

I really like my last name, and I love my family. And so let's hope my father in law doesn't see me giving his beloved Hen House 4 stars...but I'm sorry dad, I have to. It's true, this is iconic. The place looks like something out of a story book. The huge porch, the giant windows, and the stone fireplace all make you feel transported and still right at home. The food is bfeowpfjenslwodusownekeeel GUD. That's me being so overwhelmed by delish memories that I can barely type. My fam lives for the Maryland crab, I finally got to try the crab they literally LIVE for. And did it live up? It sure as heck did! I also had to try the fried chicken, it's namesake after all. And as much as I loved the crab and the pillowy white table bread , I think the chicken might be best bite there. Here's where I'm lost. It's really expensive. An order of crab was $60 for 12. We are in a town where I can get a cold brew for $2 and so $60 for some crab you have to peel seems steep. Although this is a newerish "old" building it felt a little neglected. I think a little TLC with the cleaning could make all the difference. I also was disappointed with the way they handled a bit of an accident. One of the chairs just completely collapsed under one of the guests I was with. And they kind of laughed it off. I know that it isn't their fault, but it could have been handled it little better because for goodness sakes that poor person is going to be sore and is certainly bruised. More importantly I think they might want to consider switching out the old wooden kitchen chairs (when I say kitchen I mean picture the chairs from your eat-in kitchen in 1995) with something a little more commercial grade. I would encourage anyone and everyone to go. I can't wait to go back. Fingers crossed the chairs will be different when I do.
